TG-PAPERWEIGHTDIE. 1851 Brass Paperweight cast from an original Eagle Officers metal Die. Cast in solid brass and finish to look like the original. After the Eagle Officers plate was sand cast it was placed in the steel die and a powerful blow from the press using a heavy lead weight was dropped on the back of the belt plate to sharpen the detail. Brass Paperweight is one inch thick brass, original Die is eight inches thick steel.

Back of Lt. Henry Jones Belt Plate. Dug from the Cold Harbor battlefield on the Union trench line. Lt. Jones Co. I 2nd Regt. Delaware Vol. Infantry died June 3rd. 1864 and his belt plate was dug from the trench along with his sword in 1977. Engraved in the back is the I.D. of this officer. A reproduction worn by a officer who gave his life fighting for what he believed in. I stamped the information over the original engraving because it did not show up clear in the sand casting. Original front and back pictured below.

Eagle Officers Belt Plate Circa 1863 - 1865 "Buckle Lesson" For all of you who think that the wide hook makes the Eagle Officers Belt Plate Post War - WRONG. The above belt plate was dug from the union trench line on the Cold Harbor battlefield and has the name 2nd Lt. Henry H. Jones Co. I 2nd Regt. Delaware Vol. Inf. engraved in the back. Lt. Jones died at the June 3rd 1864 battle of Cold Harbor, Va. I think that this can put to rest the wide hook being post war. Also Jeb Stuart's belt plate has a wide hook and the same type as the above belt plate.

A pair of battlefield dug cast spurs that the metal did not fill the sand mold when the brass was poured. Holes were drilled on each side to replace the leather strap parts that did not fill out the sand mold. If metal was not poured at the correct temperature this is the finished casting. If it could be used it was not put back in the melting pot.
1930's and 40's B-Western Movie used original surplus civil war guns, uniforms and buckles in the movie production. Buster Crabbe has the two outlaws under control. Man on the left is wearing a T-9 Carbine Sling buckle on his gun belt. Many John Wayne movies used this original equipment. Bannerman surplus.
