Original Louisiana I used to cast my master.
Picture
Louisiana Two Piece on the original leather belt.

In the 1960's a reproduction die stamped Louisiana cartridge box plate was sold. It lacked the detail and gold wash as the original. Today you see this reproduction sold as original but if you show the original next to this reproduction you can see the lack of detail in the reproduction. I cast a reproduction T-85 with great detail but it is cast not die stamped.
Picture
TG-LaHC2 Louisiana Two Piece Belt Plate. Circa 1861-1865. Same as the Louisiana on the left but no flaws. This Louisiana two piece was cast in a Confederate Foundry.

Wearing a Louisiana Two Piece.
Picture
The back of the reproduction die stamped Louisiana. It has the correct backing but lacks the die stamp marks. Also the original would be very hard to bend. The reproduction will bend very easy, soft metal. See these die stamped plates sold as original and the buyer just will not believe it is a reproduction. My T-85 cast plate is very close but it is cast.
Picture
"Howard Crouch" Relic hunter, author and publisher of many civil war reference books dug the original Louisiana two piece belt plate on the left. Just one of many rare relics dug by Howard. Also a member of the Virginia Historical Society.
