I meant to tell you in the original message that in the past 2 weeks I've had 2 people think my CS oval was an original plate. My reply is, "I wish," but went on to explain how you hand cast your buckles from molds created from originals...that they are as close to the real deal as it's going to get. I've worn my CS oval daily at work & home for over 20 years now & it has a worn, original look to it so I guess it's an easy mistake. I save my CSA rectangle for more casual, dressy occasions & although I've had that one nearly as long it still looks relatively new. I was trying to work out some payment with my bike guy last week (bartering a gun for services) for a pretty pricey job, & he said I could just give him my buckle. I had to laugh & tell him it wasn't what he thinks. Maybe should have kept my mouth shut! Another elderly gentleman stopped me on my way out of voting to question me about it. At any rate, I've always been impressed with your work with the 2 belts, a CSA buckle set you used to offer, & the CS spurs I got from you last year, & many others take notice. I just received the first belt
buckle, I saw when you mailed it; but our post office was a little slow getting
it to me. No big deal, it was worth the wait.
My wife was there when I
opened the package, when I unwrapped it, we both in unison just said "wow".
I was expecting something
nice, just not that nice. It's beautiful. I'm going to give it to my Dad this
weekend, for an early Christmas present, I'm expecting he'll have the same
reaction.

I just wanted to drop you a quick email in regards to a belt buckle I bought from you in approximately 2003. It is the “T-7 Early Militia Belt Plate circa 1850” with a modern belt back. I don’t participate in any re-enactment, but I just have a healthy respect and admiration for our history. This belt buckle is one of my favorite that I wear on a regular basis. Greetings, just came across your site while searching for a pin bearing the seal of the commonwealth.
Cold Harbor brings back many great memories. I am 50 years old but when I was a little boy my father would take me to Cold Harbor. We would walk the woods, the trench lines etc. We did not have any relic hunting gear, we just walked and tried to go back in time to those long ago battles and think about the many brave men who fought and died there. My father died when I was seven. His name was also Russell Thurston. I don't have many memories of time with him, but upon coming across your site, my memories of my father came rushing back to me, we walked and talked among the tall pines, that breeze and sweet aroma of pine needles in the air. I live on a farm in Halifax County, near the Roanoke River. Many fields have been planted with tobacco over the years. In those fields I have found an amazing amount of arrowheads, spear points, stone tools etc. Walking and being in nature and coming upon an old Native American site, I am often still and quiet and moved backwards in time...what was it like so many years ago? I would think, I am the first person to hold this point in many years, hundreds of years and in some cases several thousand years. Just wanted to report that the Allegheny Arsenal spurs arrived today, and they are beautiful indeed. Years ago I got a pair and the rowel neck was very crude. Your current rowel neck is just right, and all the other detailing is equally fine. For a federal cavalryman, these are the most authentic issue spurs available. My son gave me one of your beautiful Texas- Flat Star Sword Belt Plates with applied silver wreath for my birthday. My Grt-Grt-Granfather came to Texas in 1836. He served as a Ranger during the Texas revolution (his brother-in-law died in the Alamo) and in Company I of Terry's Texas Rangers with the Confederacy. I have identified relatives in the Confederate military from North Carolina, Georgia (killed at Seven Pines), Alabama, and Texas (wounded at Newnan, Ga- Battle of Brown's Mill)...in the infantry, cavalry, and navy. My Grt-Grt-Grandfather from North Carolina served on the CSS Arctic (armored barge in the Cape Fear River), and on the ironclad CSS Raleigh. He ended up in the ANV in the Naval Battalion under Gen. Ewell...(the CS Marines and Sailors in the Naval Battlaion were the last Rebels to surrender at Saylor's Creek.)
