How We Create Our Buckles

First a two part sand casting is taken of the buckle.

The castings are then lined up for pouring.

The brass is slowly melted within a crucible inside of the furnace.

The surface of the molten brass is skimmed to be sure there are no impurities.

When the brass reaches the proper temperature, the crucible is removed and placed in a carrying fork.

Now the molten brass is poured into the sand casting.

The pouring must be done quickly to ensure a good surface impression.

After a few minutes the molds are opened and allowed to cool. Soon they will be cut ground and polished.
